Someone once told me a very wise phrase that has helped me not end up on the other side of judges’ seat time after time again. That phrase is Think-Act-Feel. What that means is: Think about the situation. Decided how to act on that thought. In that process acknowledge how those actions will make others and you feel.
This is something former President Trump did not do on January 6th, 2021, and arguably thought out his entire presidency. I try to find the positives in every wither your president or an average everyday blue-collar person. You get the same from me. Ok, here goes. Don’t smite me down.
My financials were the best they had been in recent years under the Trump administration. That’s about it…
As one would have it, the rigmarole unfolded this week, we found out that a steady stream of lawyers, investigators, and Trump’s inner circle told Donald Trump the same thing repeatedly: The 2020 election could’ve been tipped by fraud and that proceeding any further with the same rhetoric could have led to severe consequences.
Yet the defeated Trump continued to wrongly claim a rigged 2020 election publicly and privately for eight weeks after losing to Biden and sought to annul Biden’s election. The Capitol standoff culminated on Jan. 6, 2021, when Trump’s attempts to stay in power failed on every front. Thousands of his supporters descended upon D.C. that day to witness the deadly attack.
During the opening hearing of the House committee investigating January 6th, the scale and virulence of the scheme became apparent. About 20 million people tuned in to the prime-time hearing, more than twice as many who watched Trump’s two impeachment hearings.
On Monday, the panel will examine how Trump’s advisers knew he lost the election but spread false information to deceive the public. America and the leaders that represent the public are not sure how this will play out. What new legislation will be enacted? How will America and her leaders proceed from here?
One thing is for sure. January 6th is a day most Americans will remember as the day the President tried to overthrow the Government. It was the day democracy was challenged. It is my hope that actions like this never be taken again and that we as a “people” better investigate the people we put in positions of authority.
Let us examine the moral integrity of a man. Not the price of the buttons on his blazer or the overpriced leather loafers he wears. Let us be sensitive to the emotional problems of our neighbors. Allow us to have a heart. Let us love and be loved in return.
Life is short and the breaths we take are fleeting. It is only the man or woman in the mirror that can make change a reality. So, join me in lifting up one another. Get out and take a fishing trip do something different and enjoy a new experience. Take time to know what your own laugh sounds like. Because there may come a day when your ears can’t hear or you can’t laugh, so I’ll say it again. Life is short.
