It’s summer and it’s heating up not just in the weather forecast but, on the racetrack, as well! With temperatures in the high 90’s it’s on track to be a steamy one! A bigger question is not how hot it is going to be but is Trackhouse Racing, and specifically its previous race winner Daniel Suárez, poised to continue its strong start as we head into the summer months? As the first Mexican-born driver to win at the sport’s top level, Suárez made NASCAR history when he made history at Sonoma Raceway. It was an off-weekend for the Cup Series, so the 30-year-old racer was able to spend some time with his family and friends in Mexico as a result. Suárez hopes to build on his victory at Nashville Superspeedway this weekend rather than just be satisfied with his one win.
In a statement from NASCAR Suárez told the world.
“If I had to write it down, how I wanted to win and how I wanted things to happen, I feel like it was going to (gonna) be just like that,” Suárez stated to NASCAR.com. “I felt very fortunate to have had an opportunity to celebrate, not just with my team and with the people who helped me to get to that point, but also with my friends and family in Mexico. There is a difference between knowing you’re a winner, knowing you can win and (actually) being a winner. Right now, I feel like the entire team has a huge boost of confidence.”
Suárez and the No. 99 team finished seventh last season, the second-best performance of that season. Starting Sunday, the team aims to work even harder to secure a playoff berth in the final 10 races.
