Yola Answered My Question

Ok this is one of my favorite articles to write. I had the pleasure of seeing Yola in Nashville at The Ryman Auditorium in 2022. I was moved by her performances! I had to save up to go see her and she did not let me down. Later after the concert was over. I was on Twitter and noticed my mug in a PBS Special that featured Yola. You can see that HERE. Talk about being noticed! It’s incredible how she can make an entire audience feel special. It is something about her music? Is it her, like physically what her soul is made of. Is that even a physical thing? I don’t know but I digress. Ok, let get on to the person who is Yola!

A singer-songwriter, musician, and actress, Yolanda Claire Quartey was born on 31 July 1983 in England. In 2019, she won four Grammy Awards, including Best New Artist, for her debut studio album Walk Through Fire. In 2021, she achieved similar success with Stand for Myself, earning two additional Grammy nominations. The actress premiered in the biopic Elvis by Baz Luhrman in 2022 as the “godmother of rock ‘n’ roll” Sister Rosetta Tharpe.

Incredible in every sense! Her music seemingly touches the hearts in all ages. Her acting is phenomenal check out the work she did in Elvis at your local movie theater.

Her internet presence is located below.

I really feel like there isn’t much I can say about her. Other than she is a Goddess. Goddess? You say. Let me explain.  I have “reached out” to many artists over the years I have been in the “Bizz”. Well, I reached out to Yola on Twitter. She responded! I felt seen! A super star,6x Grammy award winning artist, responded and responded promptly. In what I desperately want to call an interview Yola answered one question.

I asked, “What’s your favorite thing about performing?” and Yola said, “You lot!”

It felt heavenly honestly. Her music has been the soundtrack to various times in my life. The happy and sad times. Every time I entertain new friends at my home guess who is playing in the background. You got; it is Yola. That’s why the term Goddess. I know now that if a star can touch your ears! A star can touch your heart.

Now I know everybody reading this is like ok John stop fan Girling out on this mega star but, I think it is evidence of a wonderful soul. It just so happens to reflect in the physical things she does. Her music and such. I felt that sort of thing should be acknowledge it’s about time the audience displays a more meaningful response to someone creating beautiful things for us to see and hear. Lets be honest with ourselves the music we listen to is an escape from our daily lives. Minnie vacations every time we press play. I shan’t be in the shadows!

It is why I quickly wanted to write this article because I knew there would be a chance that Yola would see this article and I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to say thank you.

Thank you for being you! The world needs more Yolas!
